Department of Chemistry
October 2023: Volunteered at the Chemistry Open House to help visitors make Alka-Seltzer rockets.
February 2024: Volunteered to help give tours of the ILSQ Lab building during Aggieland Saturday.
February 2025: Volunteered to assist in the Chemistry Road Show at Aggieland Saturday.
I find great joy volunteering with the department of chemistry. Not only do I get to show others what they can do as a chemistry, but it is where I most connect my degree with the real world. Performing real time experiments like the Alka-Seltzer rockets show that chemistry is applicable everywhere in everything. It is the reason why I chose to study it and what motivates me.
The Big Event
March 2024: Traveled to a College Station resident's house to complete gardening projects.
March 2025: Traveled to Bryan and College Station to assist in park cleanup and landscaping.
Nothing shows collaboration of thousands of students quite like the Big Event. This event, unlike any other, create positive impacts on the community in homes and parks around the Bryan-College Station area.
B/CS Habitat for Humanity Restore
Occasionally volunteer at the Restore performing various tasks including cleaning, organization, and pricing.
The Habitat for Humanity Restore demonstrated a different side of what Habitat is all about. It's not just building houses, it's creating homes by making it their own space. The Restore helps with exactly that. I believe that this part of Habitat should be recognized more and that is why I choose to help make positive impacts on my community.
Collegiate Challenge
May 2024: Traveled with fellow Aggie Habitat members to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where we assisted in the process of building 2 houses. Tasks included moving cabinets, landscaping, and base boarding. I got to learn numerous new skills.
May 2025: Traveled with fellow Aggie Habitat members to Taos, New Mexico, where we assisted in the process of building a house. Taos was unique due to its Spanish adobe style architecture. I learned how to stucco, put up drywall, and mud.
Collegiate Challenge is something I look forward to every year. It's the chance to help lead a group of passionate individuals beyond the borders of Texas into a new community that needs our help. It has been by far the most rewarding part of my time here at Texas A&M. It fills my heart especially when we talk to locals and learn more about the culture. I believe that Collegiate Challenge has not only given me the opportunity to make a positive impact but also to grow as a well rounded person.
St Joseph Health
June 2025 - Present: Served my local Bryan-College Station community by volunteering with three different departments at the St Joseph hospital located in Bryan. In these roles I have learned how to interact with patients, provide excellent care, and be a part of a supportive, collaborative care team. I have volunteered my time to the Emergency Department as part of the first faces they see in triage. I spend time with patients through the Story Time program, where I read a variety of material to patients. Finally, I contribute to the nursing team at the Progressive Care Unit.
My time with St. Joseph Health has been perhaps the most insightful when I think about doing my part in the world as a physician. With my new clinical experiences, I can firmly say that medicine is the place I want to go. I feel that it helps me with all of my goals. I make a positive impact on the residents of this community and have also become a well rounded person by being able to hear stories of people with all kinds of backgrounds and personalities.
